I have recently received a couple emails about the Funkiki Island update not working for players who just got one of the Funkiki Island Funkeys (Sol, Webley, Nibble, Flurry).
Even without the Vista problem or Firewall issue, the download is not going through. The Mattel/Radica helpline could not help them.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and successfully resolved it?

I'll just add a few solutions that are known, just in case there is someone reading this that has the problem but hasn't gone through the basic steps yet.
1. If you are a Vista user, right click on the UBFunkey icon located on your desktop. Select "run as administrator". Do that while you are logged out of the game, and then log back in. Not sure if you'd need to restart your computer.
2. Check your firewall settings (Mattel support line can walk you through this. But back up your game files before you let them talk you through anything.....that's how I lost everything!)
3. Make sure you are connected to the internet. Updates should be triggered by placing the new Funkey in the hub.

We are relatively new to Funkeys, actually my boy is, and we have had zero success in downloading the Funkiki Island and/or the Dream State updates. I have tried on two PC's as well as two laptops, two running W2K and two Windows XP, all while using a broadband connection, both wireless and hardwired. We have tried all the Mattel CS suggestions: verify minimum requirements, disable firewalls, virus scanners, spyware and adware scanners (thanks Mattel for allowing me to keep my computers safe during your "troubleshooting attempts"), running the software as Administrator, assuring port 80 was open, assuring that my ISP wasn't blocking the download, etc. etc. If Mattel suggested it, it was attempted or confirmed not to be an issue to begin with. What makes little sense is that on all four install attempts from the original CD software was that each time the attempt to contact the Mattel server and download an early version update was successful. It is only when attempting to download the large updates associated with Funkiki Island or the Dream State does it have an issue as the attempts to contact the Mattel Servers fail instantly. I have been in contact w/ Mattel CS on 8 different occasions with two of those being forwarded to Engineering and am still waiting on the second reply. The first suggestions from that group were honestly a joke as they repeated suggestions that were already noted as attempted. To quote Jon Stossel of 20/20, "Give Me a Break!" I do not see Mattel successfully resolving this issue and am at the point of offering for an iso image from someone that has had success acquiring the update as it is obvious that Mattel is not going to offer a CD with the most recent upgrade or a direct download link. Long story short, the support provided by Mattel to date on this has been pathetic.

Well I certainly do hope you get it resolved soon! That is what I have heard is that their help is pretty worthless and you can pretty much figure more out yourself than what they can tell you. I really have no idea or thought though about why your game might be acting in such a weird strange way. Best of luck to you!!
